October

Thursday 1st - National Holiday: Cyprus Independence Day

Friday 2nd - Jeans for Genes Day
All the staff and pupils at The Heritage Private School Primary Department are invited to ‘dress to impress’ by wearing their jeans on Friday 2 October 2009, national Jeans for Genes Day.

Jeans for Genes is an appeal by ten charities, including Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, SPARKS and WellChild, to raise funds for research into genetic disorders affecting children and to provide valuable advice and support for families.

To help the campaign to raise this year’s target of at least £4 million, The Heritage Private School has decided to allow everyone to wear jeans for the day in exchange for a €2 donation. We hope that you are happy for your child to participate, and we would be grateful if you could ensure that your child brings the donation to school on 2 October 2009. Simply by wearing jeans and donating €2 your child will help make an impression on the lives of children with genetic disorders. We encourage children to decorate their jeans. Be creative!

If you would like to know more about the appeal, you can visit the appeal’s website at http://www.jeansforgenes.com.

Thursday 15th/Friday 16th - Harvest Festival
The Harvest Festival will be held on Thursday for the Senior School, and Friday for the Primary/Foundation school.

Thursday 15th - Uniform Sale
In preparation for the change to Winter uniform after the October holiday, FOTH are holding a second-hand uniform sale on Thursday 15th October from 1.00pm to 2.30pm under the lower school shade area.

We hope that you will support FOTH in this venture and request a donation of 10% of the proceeds to FOTH. All funds received by FOTH are then used for the benefit of the pupils, e.g. shade and awnings, sports day refreshments, drinking water fountains etc. It is planned that proceeds from the sale will be used towards providing additional shade in the play areas.

FOTH will man the second hand stall and sell on your behalf. Proceeds from the sale will be calculated after the event and monies will then be distributed to the sellers. Therefore it is important that your goods are clearly labelled. Sellers are requested that all items for sale are delivered to school prior to the sale date, each with a sticky label attached clearly stating the seller’s name and contact number.

If, however, you have a large amount of clothing to sell, you will be given your own tables at a charge of 10euros. You will then be responsible for your own goods.

The following prices will be used for second hand uniform:

Friday 30th - Halloween Treat 'n' Trunk !
Please click here for pictures from last year's event.

FOTH would like to invite you to ‘Trunk or Treat’.

5:30-7:30pm Senior School Parking Lot, Cost: 3 euros per car

Families decorate the back of their car and bring sweets to share. The children then “trick or treat” to each car.

Everyone is encouraged to come in fun, friendly costumes. We ask that masks only be worn on children UNDER 10 years of age. When choosing costumes, please remember this is a family event with young children and not to wear anything too scary. We also ask that candy is individually wrapped so those parents of children with allergies can easily identify what their child may consume.

All cars must arrive between 5-5.30pm so there are no cars moving while the children are walking around. Children will “trick or treat” between 6-7pm, in order that the parking lot can be vacated at 7.15pm.

All proceeds will go towards shade for the Senior school and books for the library.
